パターン公開に到るまでのお話 A back story of this pattern

この春はちょっと大変でした。2月に行なった超音波検査で胸にあやしい部分が見つかりまして、短い期間で針生検→入院・手術→摘出したものの病理検査と怒濤の展開に。そしてとうとう今月の頭に、わたしの胸にあったのが「非浸潤性乳管がん」というものだったことがわかりました。とてもとても超初期のがんです。生命保険の用語だと「上皮内新生物」というやつ。あやしい部分はすべて手術で取ってあるのですが、これから念のための仕上げに放射線治療をします。いちおうそれで無事終わりになるだろうという見込みです。

病気になってしまったのはなってしまったのですが、それでもかなり運が良かったです。超音波検査のきっかけになったのは自治体の乳がん検診。そもそもわたしの年齢（30代後半）で乳がん検診がある自治体はあまり多くないです。それに、要精密検査になってたまたま選んだクリニックには超音波診断のベテラン先生がいて、検診で指摘されなかったところにあやしいものを見つけてくれました。結果的には先生が見つけたあたりで超初期のちっちゃいがん（わずか数ミリ！）が始まっていたということで、30代で検診がなかったら・超音波診断がそこまで得意な病院じゃなかったら・つまり普通にしていたら、あと数年はだれもがんの存在に気づかなかったんじゃないかなあと思います。

と、いうわけで病気の経験をもとに #ブレストアウェアネスのハッシュタグをつけて無料編み図を公開しようとしているわけです。そもそも「ピンクの日」の趣旨とは、月に一度ある19日にピンクリボン運動を結びつけて「乳房のセルフチェックを月に一度行ないましょう」というもの。よく言われる「乳がんは自分で気づけるがんです」ということなんです。

ただ、わたしのように超初期の場合は自分で見つけることはできないわけですね。でも超初期に見つけると治療はかなり楽。ですので、月に一回セルフチェックをしましょう、というピンクの日の趣旨には賛同しつつも、追加でこんなことも書いておこうと思います。「自分の体のことであやしいと思ったらすぐ病院に行きましょう」そして「信頼できる先生だと治療がだいぶ楽になります」ということです。
