前回階段を作って2階の床の高さが決まりましたので、今度は2階の床そのものを作っていきたいと思います。
この時点でドールハウス本体が歪んでいること、暖炉なども少しいびつな形をしていることから、細く切った段ボールをまずざっくりと梁の上に渡していきます。屋根を作るときに使う野地板みたいなつもりで作業しました。
Since the height of the 2nd floor was determined by making the stairs last time, I would now like to make the 2nd floor itself. Since the main body of the dollhouse is distorted at this point, and the fireplace also has a slightly irregular shape, I will first roughly lay thinly cut cardboard across the beams. I worked with the intention of them acting like the decking boards used when making a roof.

1階から見たところです。前回階段と接着した太い梁に垂直になるように細い梁を追加しています。写真で見て手前のほうはあまり梁を渡さなかったのですが、ここももう一本くらい追加しておけばよかったなと思いました。その話はまた後ほど。
This is the view from the 1st floor. I have added thin beams perpendicular to the thick beam that I glued to the stairs last time. Looking at the photo, I didn’t lay many beams toward the front, but I thought it would have been better if I had added about one more here as well. More on that story later.
野地板的なもののほうに話を戻しますが、これはかなりラフで大丈夫です。暖炉があったりして部屋の横幅が変わるので、それに合わせて大体の幅で切り、隙間があっても気にせずに並べておきます。写真は階段も含め、2階の全部をカバーしたところ。
Returning to the subject of the decking boards, it is okay for this to be quite rough. Because there is a fireplace, the width of the room changes, so cut them to a rough width to match that, and line them up without worrying if there are gaps. The photo shows the entire 2nd floor covered, including the stairs.
続いて階段幅に合わせて野地板を切っていきます。Next, I will cut the decking boards to match the width of the stairs.

続いては野地板の上からフローリング材を貼っていきます。1階に使ったのと同じサイズにしました。写真に写っている青いケースは1リットルのアイスが入っていたものです。だいたいこの容器にいっぱいになるくらい用意しておくと全体を貼ることができました。
Next, I will paste the flooring material on top of the decking boards. I made them the same size as the ones used on the 1st floor. The blue case shown in the photo used to hold 1 liter of ice cream. If you prepare enough to roughly fill this container, you will be able to paste the whole area.
野地板は適当に渡してOKでしたが、フローリングはぴっちりと端に合わせて貼っていきます。形が歪んでいるところはそこに合わせてカットしていってください。
It was okay to lay the decking boards haphazardly, but the flooring material is pasted tightly aligning with the edges. Where the shape is distorted, please cut it to match that area.
全体を貼り終わったら少し乾かし、そして一度ハウスから床全体を外します。このとき野地板がバラバラだと壊れてしまうかもしれないので、裏（1階側）から適当にマスキングテープで止めます。
Once you have finished pasting the whole thing, let it dry for a bit, and then remove the entire floor from the house once. At this time, it might break if the decking boards fall apart, so tape it appropriately from the back (1st floor side) with masking tape.
表側。写真左側は暖炉に続く部分で、ここはまた別の床材を敷くのでまだ野地板が見えています。
The front side. The left side of the photo is the part leading to the fireplace, and since I will lay a different flooring material here, the decking boards are still visible.
2階は1階とは違う仕上げにしようと思います。試しに木工パテというものを全面に塗布してみました。やはり野地板に直接ペタペタ貼っただけではでこぼこがあったので、それを均すという意図もあります。
I think I will give the 2nd floor a different finish from the 1st floor. As a test, I applied something called wood putty over the entire surface. As expected, there were bumps just from pasting them directly onto the decking boards, so there is also the intention of smoothing that out.
木工パテが乾いたら、暖炉部分の床材を貼っていきます。1階はスチロールトレーを使いましたが、2階は段ボールでレンガみたいなサイズのパーツを作って貼ってみました。そして隙間を埋める木工ボンドを。
Once the wood putty dries, I will paste the flooring material for the fireplace area. I used a Styrofoam tray for the 1st floor, but for the 2nd floor, I tried making and pasting brick-sized parts out of cardboard. Then, wood glue to fill the gaps.
両方が乾いたところで、もう一度ハウスに設置してみました。このままでは少し微妙ですので、色を塗っていきたいと思います。
Now that both are dry, I tried installing it in the house again. It looks a little underwhelming as it is, so I would like to paint it.
まずは表側。暖炉部分の床材は白に、フローリングは1階の壁と同じ色で塗ってみました。木工パテを塗った段階で少しやつれたような表情がありましたので、それを生かしてシャビーシックにしてみました。
ストーリーとしては、1階より2階の床のほうが昔に施工されたもので、これまでの住人がたくさん歩いて塗装が剥がれてしまっているということにしてみました。暖炉前のところがきれいなのは、火に近づかないようにベビーガードみたいなものが設置されていたからだと思います。
First, the front side. I tried painting the fireplace area’s flooring material white, and the flooring in the same color as the 1st-floor walls. At the stage where I applied the wood putty, it had a slightly worn-out expression, so I made use of that and went for a shabby chic look. For the story, I decided that the 2nd floor was constructed earlier than the 1st floor, and the previous residents walked on it a lot, causing the paint to peel off. I think the area in front of the fireplace is clean because something like a baby guard was installed to keep them away from the fire.
併せて裏側も白く塗りました。こちらはこのままだと少し見た目が微妙なので、後からまた加工します。
I also painted the back side white at the same time. This part looks a bit unappealing as is, so I will process it again later.
2階に設置したところ。This is how it looks installed on the 2nd floor.
1階側は先ほどご覧いただいたようにこうなっています。これだと少し野趣が強いので、漆喰風にしてみるべく百円ショップの紙粘土を貼り巡らしました。
As you saw earlier, the 1st floor side looks like this. Since this has a slightly strong rustic feel, I pasted paper clay from the 100-yen shop all around to make it look like plaster.
こんな感じ。指で適当に押して貼ったのがそのまま左官風仕上げになっている……ということにしておきましょう。
It looks like this. Let’s just say that randomly pressing and pasting it with my fingers has naturally resulted in a plasterer-style finish…
このアイデアはよかったのですが、あとから問題が発生しました。紙粘土の水分で少し2階の床も湿り、そこに紙粘土の重量が加わって床がたわんでしまいました。それ自体は柱を追加することでなんとか復元することができたのですが、そもそもそうなったのは梁を渡していなかったスペース。梁がいかに大事かということを思いがけなく学ぶ結果となりました。
This idea was good, but a problem occurred later. The moisture from the paper clay slightly dampened the 2nd floor as well, and the weight of the paper clay was added to that, causing the floor to sag. I was able to somehow restore the floor itself by adding a pillar, but the space where that happened in the first place was where I hadn’t laid a beam. It turned out to be an unexpected lesson in just how important beams are.
今回はここまでです。次回は屋根とドーマー窓、屋根材などなどの話をしていきたいのですが、ここからは試行錯誤が多くて整然としたブログにならない……というか、「作り方」ではなくて「結果的にこんなものになりました」というブログになってしまうかもしれません。写真の捜索などにも時間がかかりそうです。なので、また間が開いてしまったらごめんなさい。
